Keep your flowers, we want human rights
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to remind ourselves that women in Slovakia still face systemic injustice, discrimination, and violence. Flowers and kind words once a year are not enough—real change is needed. Human rights organizations are therefore calling on the government to take concrete steps to protect women from violence, improve access to healthcare, ensure decent housing, and eliminate discrimination against Roma and LGBTI+ women.
A joint press release by partner organizations and collectives Amnesty International Slovakia, Iniciatíva inakosť, inTYMYta, Možnosť voľby, Neon, Poradňa pre občianske a ľudské práva, and Saplinq also draws attention to the issue of discrimination against Roma women.
