On Friday 20 January 2023, we launched our new book – On the Road to Justice – which brings together ten remarkable stories of Roma women and Roma men and women who have stood up for their rights. All of them have faced discrimination or other violations of their rights in recent years because of their ethnic origin and decided to defend themselves in Slovak courts with our support.

They embarked on a journey to justice that was unknown to many. Their efforts are important for our whole society. They have made it easier for other people to seek justice in cases of discrimination or other human rights violations in the future.

Their stories are powerful and inspiring. We believe they can encourage all those who face violations of their rights and are hesitant to take legal action. We also hope that the book will be read by responsible state institutions charged with improving access to justice. Because the stories in the book highlight the persistent obstacles that exist in this regard.

The event was moderated by Roman Goroľ, who discussed the book with Štefan Ivanc and Kristína Mojžišová, who were behind the creation of the book, as well as Veronika Cibríková and Ivan Horváth, whose stories can be read in the book.
