What is our opinion on the Ministry of Education’s proposal for new legislation on school districts?
We discussed this with Filip Zachar from Denník N and emphasized that the correct setting of school districts can help desegregate education, especially in areas where Roma children still face discrimination.
One example is the municipality of Terňa, where we have been conducting strategic litigation for a long time with the aim of changing school districts so that Roma children from Malý Slivník are not concentrated in one school. The courts have already confirmed that the ministry and the school authority must take action.
We will continue to monitor how this legal amendment is applied in practice.
