Since 1 September 2026, we have been implementing a new project focused on Roma women’s experiences with reproductive healthcare and on supporting their active participation in advocating for systemic change. The project will be implemented in six localities in the Košice and Prešov regions. Through field monitoring and six meetings, we will create a safe space where Roma women can openly share their experiences with healthcare in hospitals, identify the problems they face, and work together to explore possible solutions.

The meetings will be followed by a two-day advocacy meeting, during which Roma women will have the opportunity to present their experiences to relevant human rights institutions. The aim will be to establish cooperation and seek support for advocating for systemic changes in relation to the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and other responsible institutions.

An important part of the project is strengthening the voices of Roma women. We want them not to be merely subjects of monitoring, but active co-creators of change in healthcare. Their experiences and perspectives will also feature in the project’s media outputs, through which we will draw attention to persistent problems and the need for systemic solutions.

The main objective of the project is to contribute to ensuring that Roma women have equal access to quality, dignified and non-discriminatory reproductive healthcare.
