Cooperation in human rights education at the Faculty of Law, UPJŠ
As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, on November 19, 2025, the Civil and Human Rights Counseling Center accepted an invitation to participate in seminars for the elective course Introduction to the Study of Human Rights. The course is offered in cooperation with the Legal Clinics Department and the Institute of International and European Law at the Faculty of Law of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
Our goal was to introduce first-year law students to strategic litigation as an important tool for promoting long-term and systemic changes in the field of human rights protection.
During the discussion, we presented our experiences from many years of practice in the field of protecting the human and reproductive rights of Roma women. We highlighted specific cases in which strategic litigation contributed to systemic changes, whether at the level of judicial practice or legislative measures.
We greatly appreciate the opportunity to engage in professional dialogue with students, which strengthens sensitivity to human rights issues and links theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
The discussion was held with the support of the Commission for Gender Equality at UPJŠ in Košice.
Thank you for the invitation and the stimulating meeting
