Since 1 July 2026, we have been implementing a project focusing on the impact of the digitalisation of ticket sales on access to public transportation for Roma communities in Slovakia. We examine the barriers Roma women and men face when purchasing tickets digitally and the extent to which they are disadvantaged by limited access to the internet, digital devices, banking services, or digital skills.

As part of the project, we document the experiences of people from Roma communities, the availability and cost of offline alternatives, and regional differences in ticket sales systems. We also examine whether the design of these systems may result in indirect discrimination and unequal access to public transportation. We aim to use the findings of the research to advocate for non-discriminatory solutions and, where necessary, systemic changes.
