In December 2024, we sent a report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child describing a number of violations of the rights of Roma children that we monitor in our work. In particular, we focus on discrimination against Roma children in access to education, deficiencies in the investigation of cases of police violence, and legislation that also has a discriminatory impact on Roma children. We also describe the digital exclusion that Roma children face in accessing digital technologies or digital skills. Last but not least, we also address violations of the reproductive rights of Roma women and girls and the gaps in access to justice for illegally sterilized Roma women and girls. Our report was submitted as part of the sixth cycle of the assessment of the Slovak Republic’s obligations under the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.
