International Women’s Day is a chance to name systemic problems and seek structural solutions
International Women’s Day is again this year a day for organisations and individuals working with human rights and survivors of gender-based and racialised violence to remember the systemic failures and neglect of women’s rights by the state. In addition, we collectively reflect on the consequences that the lack of solutions and longstanding violations of women’s rights have on their lives and the overall state of civil society. The women affected by rights violations are often also defenders of rights who, in return for their actions face persecution and further oppression. Joint press release by the organisations and collectives Amnesty International, Inakost’, InTYMYta, Opportunity to Choose, Neon, Counselling Centre for Civil and Human Rights and Saplinq, among others, also focuses on the issue of discrimination against Roma women.
The press release is available in Slovak language.
