Our colleague, lawyer Vanda Durbáková, has become a laureate of this year’s prestigious Czech-Slovak award for inspiring female lawyers – Flamma within the project #FIRST100YEARS.
Vanda has been leading the strategic litigation program at Poradňa since 2004. As an attorney at law, she has successfully engaged in many high-profile legal cases to protect the human rights of Roma in Slovakia.
Vanda received the award at the gala in Prague from Andrea Moravčíková, Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, and Marcela Káňová from Rowan Legal.
Other winners of the Flamma award were representatives of the judiciary, the bar, the non-profit sector and female lawyers from academia.
More than 40 nominations received by the project during the year were judged by a jury composed of ambassadors and supporters of the project, as well as last year’s winners and representatives of legal organisations and project partners. One of them, for example, is Kateřina Šimáčková, a judge of the European Court of Human Rights.
#FIRST100YEARS is an inspiring project focusing on the history, present and future of women in law.
Congratulations to Vande from the bottom of our hearts.
