In the Center for Civil and Human Rights (Poradna), since our establishment in 2001, we have been promoting the protection of the rights of the Roma minority in Slovakia.

In this video you will learn that over 20 years of our work we:

– monitored cases of discrimination, police violence against the Roma minority in Slovakia or forcible sterilization of Roma women;

– conducted strategic litigation in order to achieve systemic changes in our society;

– reacheded a groundbreaking court decision in the case of segregation of Roma children at a school in Šarišské Michaľany;

– reached positive decisions before he European court in Strasbourg in favor of victims of the Moldava nad Bodvou police raid or illegally sterilized Roma women;

– contributed to the application of the anti-discrimination law in practice so that it becomes an effective tool for protection for discriminated persons;

– together with a group of active Romani women, we promoted justice for illegally sterilized Romani women;

– we pointed out the shortcomings in the investigation of cases of police violence in Slovakia and promoted changes in this area;
