The European Court of Human Rights by its judgment in the case of M.B. and Others v. Slovakia of 1 April 2021 ruled that Slovakia had violated the right of three Roma boys to an effective investigation into the police violence they objected. In so doing, they violated the procedural component of a right to protection against inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment under Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
