In January 2023, together with our partner organisations the European Roma Rights Centre and the Human Rights Forum, we sent our joint statement to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, in which we point out the insufficient implementation of the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of R.R. and R.D. v. Slovak Republic. It was this judgment that the European Court ruled in September 2020 on the violation of the rights of two Roma who faced severe violence during a police raid in Moldava nad Bodvou in 2013. We in Poradna provided legal assistance to the affected Roma. In our joint submission, we point out that despite an official apology, the Slovak government has not taken the necessary measures to fully implement this judgment and to remedy the serious shortcomings in the investigation of police violence highlighted by the European Court in its judgment.
