From 13 to 15 May 2026, our lawyers Vanda and Miša participated in a workshop focused on strategic litigation in the field of Roma rights protection. The event took place at the Museum of Romani Culture in Brno and provided a valuable opportunity for experts and practitioners working in the field of human rights to exchange experiences and share knowledge.

During the workshop, our colleagues presented the Counselling Center’s experience in conducting strategic litigation in cases involving violations of the rights of Roma people in Slovakia. In her presentation, Miša focused on cases of forced sterilisation and violations of the reproductive rights of Romani women. Vanda presented the Counselling Center’s strategic litigation work in cases concerning the segregation of Romani children in education before Slovak courts.

The programme also included a screening of the documentary film Zpráva o nultém ročníku (Report on the Preparatory Grade), followed by a discussion, as well as a guided tour of the Museum of Romani Culture. These accompanying activities offered participants a broader perspective on issues related to the position of Roma communities and the protection of their rights.

The event concluded with an informal meeting with representatives of the organisation Fórum pro lidská práva (Forum for Human Rights). The meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences, strengthen mutual support, and further develop cooperation in the field of human rights protection.

We would like to thank the organisers for the invitation and all participants for the insightful discussions and inspiring exchanges during two rewarding days in Brno.
