Poradna in co-operation with other Slovak NGOs issued joint press release regarding the recent Concluding observations of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Slovakia which point out the ongoing substantial shortcomings in fighting racism and racial discrimination in Slovakia. The Committee encourages the Slovak government to effectively fulfil its international obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) to which it is a State party.

Poradna in co-operation with NGO People in Need Slovak republic submitted the Written comments to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. These written comments focus on violations of the rights of Roma minority in Slovakia under the particular articles of the International Convention on the Elimination All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

On 10 December 2012, the Center for Civil and Human Rights (Poradna) received the French Republic´s Human Rights Prize, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, for its human rights protection work in Slovakia. Poradna is the first NGO from the post-communist Central Europe to receive the prize.

Center for Civil and Human Rights (Poradna) announced the decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of I.G. and Others vs. Slovakia, in which forcibly sterilized Romani women sought compensations for their involuntary sterilization in the Slovak Hospital. It is the third decision of the European court condemning illegal sterilization.

Center for Civil and Human Rights announced ground-breaking decision of the Regional Court in Prešov which confirmed segregation of Roma children at the Šarišské Michaľany School by teaching them in separate classrooms without reasonable justification. The decision is final and cannot be appealed against. It is the first final court decision condemning school segregation of Roma children in Slovakia.
